Music at First
First Presbyterian Concert Series

Concerts are held in the sanctuary, and are well attended by members of our church and guests from the community. Attendees are invited to join us for a reception honoring the performers immediately after the concert in our fellowship hall.   First Presbyterian Church is handicap accessible and all concerts are FREE.

About the 
the artists:  

Daniel Quinn, Guitar

Classical Guitarist Dr. Daniel Quinn has been an active performer for over forty years. He has performed as a soloist in numerous concerts and recitals around the United States, Canada, and Japan. Dan completed his B.M., M.M., and D.M. in classical guitar performance at the Indiana University school of music in Bloomington Indiana under Ernesto Bitetti. Daniel has also been an instructor of guitar for 35 years at colleges such as Indiana University - Bloomington, University of Indianapolis, and the Tokyo College of Music. He currently teaches at St. Mary’s and Holy Cross colleges in Notre Dame Indiana, and at Indiana University South Bend, as well as at Sweetwater in Fort Wayne. 

Heaven Fan, Harp

Currently serving on the faculty of the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, Valparaiso University, Indiana University South Bend, and Anderson University, Dr. Heaven Fan is also a member of the artistic faculty of the MasterWorks Festival. Fan’s performances have been featured on National Public Radio (NPR), TV and radio stations in the US, Canada, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. 

A prizewinner in the national Anne Adams Competition of the American Harp Society and the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship Award of the Arts Council of Indianapolis and Lilly Endowment, Fan was invited to be a featured soloist in the Boston Harp Festival, MasterWorks Festival, the World Harp Congresses in Czech Republic and Switzerland, and twice in the International Harp Festival of Mexico.

Ball State University 
Jazz Ensemble

Ball State Jazz Ensemble  enjoys the reputation of being one of the best collegiate bands in the country.  The band has performed at jazz festivals in  Costa Rica and in Switzerland, toured Poland, Prague, Berlin, and China, and has been invited to tour Chile next year.  The Ensemble  has received numerous awards from over 20 appearances at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Chicago, the Kansas City Jazz Fest, and the National Collegiate Jazz Fest in Mobile, Alabama.   BSU Jazz Ensemble recently released a new CD recording, featuring original compositions by five of it's student musicians.
